The Constant Gardeners
The constant gardeners are a gloriously eclectic group of neighbours, who water, weed, dead head and plant the Garden under the supervision of Bill. Bill and Peggy have been looking after the Garden since it was first established in 2007 and are largely responsible for its present design and the selection of plants.
Bill and Ross look after the money with ferocity. Bill keeps a meticulous record of plants that have grown (and those that have failed) in the garden over the years.
Jim, Becca, Clair, Heydar, Mark and Ross water regularly - with back up from Rhondell. There are general planning and tidying up sessions - times and dates are posted in the garden. All are welcome.
Every year there is a musical afternoon - with tea and cakes - held to raise money for the Martlet's Hospice and for the Garden.
The Constant Gardeners love the pleasure the garden gives to those who make a small detour to pass through or sit on their way to work, shopping or to school. It's a secret bit of heaven in the middle of Hove and the Constant Gardeners are the secret angels who keep it looking so lovely.
