Garden Gripes

The renaissance of the garden has not been without it's problems. Before the garden took shape the bare walls were often used as a canvas for offensive graffiti. On many occasions had to re-paint the walls to cover up tags and ugly graphic symbols. We are happy to say that since the garden has blossomed the graffiti has ceased .

On occasions children use the garden to play football damaging the plants. Some children climb into the fragile olive trees.  We tell the children that they are welcome to play in the garden as long as the plants and trees are not damaged. Definitely no ball games or climbing trees.

Our biggest problem are irresponsible dog owners. Dogs are often let loose in the garden to defecate and urinate.  We have to clean up after other peoples dogs. The owners should clean up after their dogs.. The law in Brighton and Hove is to have your dog on a leash. We have complained to The Dog Warden but unfortunately the problem continues.

We have a constant problem having daily to scoop up cat pooh from the flower beds and pots. If cat owners provided a litter tray for their cats to use hopefully they should cease using the Garden as a litter tray.

Please if you smoke in the Garden dispose of your cigarette butts in the bin provided.

The garden is a ‘Garden for the Gardenless’  and for the use and enjoyment of everyone in the community and is generally respected. Please remember that people volunteer their free time to care for this garden and by observing the rules of the garden you are making their job easier.
